Crash Landing on the Duke by Meara Platt

Crash Landing on the Duke, the sixth book in The Silver Dukes series, focuses on Florence’s unrequited love for Trajan. Hired to collect letters secretly, she finds herself needing his…

She was sent to spy. He offered a fake engagement. But when hearts collide, even the best-laid alibis can’t hide the truth.

Crash Landing on the Duke is the sixth book in The Silver Dukes series.  While each book in the series mentions characters from the other books, they can be read as stand-alones.

Overview

Florence has had feelings for Trajan since meeting him last year. At the time, he was captivated by Eden, so Florence returned to her quiet existence. When the princess hires her to collect some letters from a nobleman without his knowing, she sees it as an opportunity to help her brother and maybe finally earn her family’s affections.

When Florence literally crashes down on him, Trajan is excited for another chance to get to know her. But first, he has to protect her from the nobleman she was spying on. That entails a fake engagement announcement as an alibi. He hopes to turn it into a real engagement.

Positive

Another great story! Florence is a complex character; she is strong because she has to be, but just wants to be loved. The author worded it as:

“She was so soft inside. So filled with love that she was aching to give.”

It pulled on my heart. The emotional moments were powerful enough to make me feel it. I need to reread it so I can highlight those quotes; they were perfect.

Negative

There isn’t anything I noticed that could have been improved: interesting plot, character development, and spicy, but passionate romance.

Recomendation

Rating: 5 out of 5.

I can’t decide if Crash Landing into the Duke has tied or beaten Snowfall and the Duke as my favorite in the series. I’ll land on it’s a tie, why should I choose? Five stars for me!
