Born of prophecy, hidden in silence—Kara’s story brings the Horde Kings saga full circle. When love meets destiny, even the fog must clear.

Remember in ‘Broken by the Horde King,’ when it mentions the first hybrid birth, we get to meet that child now.
Overview
The final installment of the Horde Kings of Dakkar. Kara has spent her entire life in the sacred temple. The priestesses protect her as one of their own, keeping her hybrid status hidden. When the horde king, Arik, arrives to get answers to the fog, her destiny becomes clear.
They must work together to gather their forces to defeat the fog. The future of Dakkar depends on it. Will their emotions get in the way?
Positives
The second half of the book is a rollercoaster! At one point, I had to quit crocheting because I was crying so much I couldn’t see my work! It’s a great close to the series.
It’s not often that illiteracy is represented in a book. I wanted to make a point of mentioning it. It’s an interesting twist.
Negatives
So, I was re-listening to the series to write these reviews. I put this one off a bit because I was sort of dreading it. I dislike the first half of this book and couldn’t quite figure out why. Finally, I have determined it’s Arik’s character. Arik spends the entire first half dismissing Kara. He consistently challenged her ideas, opinions, and experiences, passing her off as naive. He does eventually learn that she is his equal, but getting there was painful for me.
Recommendations
The second half makes up for the slow and painful first half. It still is just a 4, though. She wraps the series on a great note. I would be interested in the stories of a lot of the supporting characters in the series. Zoey wove a wonderful world; it’s sad to leave it.
