Overview
Lara has spent most of her childhood training to be a weapon for Maridrira. She has been told that her people’s suffering is from the greed of the King of Ithicana. The same king she is scheduled to marry. Lara’s father has tasked her with finding Ithicana’s weakness so they can attack.
Aren has agreed to this marriage, which was an attempt by his parents to avoid war. He secretly hopes he can sway her to help him unite their peoples. When he begins to have feelings for her, he wants to believe she has joined his side.
When both of their truths are revealed, will these feelings be enough to repair the damage?
Positives
Danielle L. Jensen has created a unique world with The Bridge Kingdom. Not only do we have distinct kingdoms, but each kingdom has its distinct characters. All of the characters are very well developed.
There are a lot of emotions felt throughout the first book. There were moments where I was afraid, disgusted, frustrated, and in awe. It was an odd mix for me.
Negatives
It’s a cliffhanger, so make sure you have book two. The Traitor Queen is ready to read. Maybe because their romance spans two books, the romance is a little light—a slow fall in love.
Recommendations
The Bridge Kingdom is a hidden gem. I love the series. Five stars for me! However, if you are terrified of snakes, be prepared to skip a few pages. I do suggest saving this map from the author’s website for reference.
