Tempting Auzed is the fourth book in the Clecanian series. We’ve already met Alex and Auzed. Alex is the other half of the pair that escaped into the woods. Auzed is another of Theo’s brothers.

Overview

Alex wakes up on the riverbed with a horrible headache. Luckily, a strange creature takes a liking to her and feeds her bugs (yum!) and brings her water. They continue traveling uneventfully for days. But then a scary beast is after her, and her new companion runs away! Luckily, her knight in shining armor, well, black suit, arrives.

Her rescuer, Auzed, slays the beast. Unfortunately, killing one is against the law, and her creature friend returns with more aliens, just in time to witness the crime. In the chaos, Alex makes the impulsive choice of announcing she is engaged to Auzed (the first time Auzed is hearing about it). Now they have to play their parts for their mutual benefit.

Positives

Alex is a movie buff, so this book is full of classic and pop culture references. Aveline also uses these references to explain precisely what Alex is feeling in one line! It was fun trying to figure out each reference.

There is a little twist at the end to keep you on your toes. Alex and Auzed are the kind of couple that are classified as sunshine and grouch, but they’re also the sort that are so similar that it gets in their way.

Negatives

There isn’t anything that comes to mind. This story and its characters are well-developed.

Recommendations

I give it five stars. This is an excellent example of everything I love about this series: the world-building, strong character development, and believable (and relatable) relationships.

Narration Notes’

Don’t change perfection. I’ve mentioned in previous reviews how much I love Stephen Dexter’s narration. Luckily, he narrates the entire series.

I purchased the audiobook from Audible with a membership.
