Pillaged by Tana Stone

“Pillaged,” the third book in the “Raider Warlords of the Vandar” series, follows Rachel as she escapes an arranged marriage and aids the Vandar against the Zagrath. She agrees to…

She escaped an arranged marriage. Now she’s trading secrets, claiming a mate, and risking everything to protect a war-torn alien world.

Pillaged has 4 hearts for the emotional romance and 4 candles for physical intimacy

Pillaged is the third book of Raider Warlords of the Vandar. Some characters are present in all books so far, but they are sufficiently described so they can be read individually.

Overview

Rachel uses the confusion of battle to escape the Zagrath ship and her arranged marriage. She is quickly picked up by a Vandar ship. In return for granting her asylum, she agrees to give Toraan all the information she overheard while in the general’s presence. This information turns out to be dangerous for the Vandar; Toraan has to act quickly to protect the Vandar colonies.

As a way of humiliating the Zagrath general, Rachel agrees to be Toraan’s mate. Now they just need to figure out how to get the mating marks. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way.

Positives

We get more emotion this time. There’s even one point where I tear up, no matter how many times I’ve listened to and/or read it. This is an excellent change of pace from the first two books.

We finally get introduced to the Vandar culture when they’re not fighting. I would have liked a little more description for the colony, but that might have taken away from the paced plot.

Negatives

We get it, Rachel has “perfect recall”. The book mentions it five times, which is at least three more than it should be. Lol.

Like I’ve said before, there is a formula to the books in this series. So if you don’t like predictable plots, this might not be the series for you.

Recommendations

Rating: 4 out of 5.

If you can’t get enough of steamy alien romance, you should try this series. I give Pillaged four stars. It has everything I loved from the first two books, plus more feeling.

Narration Notes

Marcio Catalano and Addison Barnes narrate the audiobook. Both do a great job. I really enjoy Marcio Catalano for all the male characters. Marcio layers his voice when multiple characters, like the entire command deck, are talking in unison. I think it’s cool. You can get all ten audiobooks on Audible for three credits thanks to the series being broken into three box sets.

This title is available at no extra cost with a Kindle Unlimited membership.
