She’s a single mom guarding her heart. He’s a dragon torn between dreams and destiny. When fate calls, will love be enough to make him stay?

Her Dragon Destiny is the fifth book in the Black Claw Dragons series.

Overview

Bethany is a single mother. Dating hasn’t been a priority since she has a three-year-old at home. She’s finally made some female friends, and through them, she meets Maddox. At first, she feels judged by him, but with each encounter, her feelings shift to something more than just friends. But she has Tiffany, so she has to be cautious.

Maddox wasn’t planning on settling down yet. He decided he wants to attend law school, and he has just received his acceptance to one in California. He wants to find himself without his family hovering over him. So when he discovers Bethany is his fated mate, he is conflicted. He doesn’t want to get involved just to leave them both.

Positives

I love that we get to see more strong single moms. Her Dragon Destiny is the second book in the series featuring a single mom as the female lead. Bethany is determined not to NEED a man, while Maddox tries to convince her that he just wants to help lighten the load.

Maddox and Bethany’s romance is a slow burn that quickly turns into the “we’ve been dating for years” phase. It works well when you consider that they both consider Tiffany’s needs first. I think it’s romantic, but I can see why many would be disappointed.

Negatives

So I put off reading Maddox’s story as long as possible. I’ve read the previous four books multiple times already, but I always stop before Maddox’s story. He is still a kid at the start of the series, and now he might already be a stepdad. But it has been four years since he arrived at Black Claw.

Recommendations

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Still a cozy read. I give it three stars. Definitely something to read when you need a break from heavier material.
