She was promised to one brother, but her heart chose the other. In a land of secrets and shadows, love might be the most dangerous rebellion of all.
For a Wild Woman’s Heart is the third book in the Ancient Song series. The books can be read as stand-alones.
Overview
Darlei is a Caledonian princess who is sent to marry Rohn MacMurtray. A few things don’t go as planned: First, she develops feelings for her betrothed’s brother. Then, more secrets are revealed that threaten her future. Everything just keeps going from bad to worse.
Deathan has always been constant in his brother’s shadow. But now he desires the one thing his brother has but doesn’t want, the wild woman. No matter what happens, he will be with her; he doesn’t care how far he will have to go.

Positives
Another well-written forbidden love. Though For a Wild Woman’s Heart doesn’t have the magical element the previous stories had. This one also seemed to be easier to read; maybe I’m just used to the Scottish narration now.
Darlei is everything I hoped for and more. She is not only skilled and determined, but she also has tenderness. So while you know she will survive any situation, you don’t want anything to hurt her.
I expected Deathan to be more bold at the beginning, like how our previous men in the series have been. It’s a nice change and allows for a great character arc for him. He grows through the story!
Negatives
I still hoped for a little more unwinding after the climax, but it was ok. I enjoyed how the bard was able to tie up loose ends. I can see how it connects to the folklore of the series.
Recommendations
For a Wild Woman’s Heart has been my favorite of the series. If you love Scottish romance, you will love this one. It’s four stars for me.
