X wears the crown, but peace is a battlefield. As old enemies train side by side, a new threat rises—and survival demands more than loyalty.
Allegiance is the sixth book in the Hell Divers series. The series needs to be read in order.
Overview
X has been crowned King after a gruesome battle at the end of Captives. The sky people and the Cazadores are trying to coexist, but old habits die hard. They are doing their best to intermingle; there are Cazadores training to be hell divers, and sky people training for combat.
Answering a distress call, the hell divers attempt to rescue more survivors. Along the way, they discover yet another threat. Not only are they fighting amongst themselves, but they now need to prepare for battle against a new threat.

Positives
No disappointment with the action and pace. I get more of a Mad Max feel now that we are on the ground. X makes a realization that humans haven’t changed; they are still fighting against each other, like when they started the war that ended the world.
I expected X to be more hesitant about accepting the leadership. He just takes it without any grumbling. Unsurprisingly, he is good at it, but handling the complex union is bound to stress any leader. He is also human, so full of faults and bad decisions.
Negatives
I had to start reading something between books because doom and gloom were getting a bit much for me. It’s annoying to begin to care for a character only for them to die. I don’t know what I am going to do when Miles dies.
Recommendations
You know what you’re going to get at this point. Allegiance is three stars for me—a great read, but dense and dark.
Narration Notes
R. C. Bray narrates the series. He is a great choice to match the hard life and trials that the hell divers and other survivors endure.
