She fled the season to escape scandal. He followed to confront sabotage. But when highwaymen strike, even the most reluctant hearts must unite.
A Little Bit of Hellion is the fourth book in the Ladies Who Dare series. This book could be read as a stand alone, it’s a continuation of the other books, but the pertinent information is explained.
Overview
Theodosia King is done with this season. Ager the list scandal and her mothers continuous match making efforts, she’s exhausted. So she heads to the country early. Only to be followed by him. Earl of Saville, the man responsible for all her problems. Why can’t he just leave her alone?
Field Savage, Earl of Saville, is tired of his sister and best friend flaunting their relationship. He’s also tired of cut up clothes. Now he hears Theodosia has fled the city, he hopes he isn’t to blame. He decides to confront her for her part in the vandalism of his portrait and waist coats. When he catches up with her, they’re unfortunate luck gets even worse.

Positives
We know the Regency is for the balls and walks around the garden. But as with all things, there were downsides. We don’t usually see highwaymen in the Regency romances, so this was a nice twist. I actually had to look it up, because I didn’t know what they were. I love when a simple romance encourages us to learn new things- the wonder of literature!
I’m being careful not to reveal too much, but the meddling and counter-meddling involved in Theodosia’s and Fields’ romance were comical to me. It’s a common theme all the way to the end. Luckily, Theo and Field are both pretty tough.
Negatives
I was a little disappointed with this story. It was slow to start for me and I found Theodosia and Field a little “flat”. We’ve had such vivacious and passionate characters in the Ladies Who Dare series. While Theodosia has a strong backbone, that’s about as daring as she gets. I think in another series I would have loved her, but compared with her friends, she doesn’t have any spunk. Field just comes off as a stick in the mud to me.
Recommendations
The story is still well-written with a slightly new perspective on the Regency era. Compared to the rest of the series, it’s a let-down, though the conclusion does have the fire I have come to expect. It’s a three-star for me. I find the plot ultimately forgettable.
