She’s tired of being a footnote in her brother’s story. He’s cursed to marry or suffer. When mischief meets misery, sparks fly—and so do expectations.
A Knave By Any Other Name is the third book in the Ladies Who Dare series. While it is a new couple, the events are a continuation from the first two books.
Overview
Selena Savage is known for being Lord Saville’s little sister, nothing more, nothing less. She wants an identity of her own. Now her brother has attached a watchdog to her, one she can’t shake. How can she ever get out of her brother’s shadow, without jumping into another’s?
Phineas North, Marquis of Warrick, despises being Lady Selena’s guard dog, even if it is all his fault. This damn family curse, he was told, if he didn’t marry by 30, he would experience misery. Well, he’s got it. The more time he spends in the vicinity of Selena, the more he no longer sees her as his best friend’s little sister. Could she be something much more?

Positives
It’s great to read romances where the men are the “hopeless romantic” types. Warrick definitely doesn’t start as one, but as his character develops and grows, he transforms into one.
If you’ve followed along the series, we already knew Selena isn’t afraid to ruffle feathers, especially her brothers! She resists her feelings for as long as possible in defiance. But when faced with possible betrayal, you can feel the painful conflict.
Negatives
In previous books, we’ve heard about Selena locking her brother in his room (Almost a Scoundrel) and cutting up his clothes (By No Means a Gentleman). We don’t get to see that level of mischief until over halfway through the book; that was a little disappointing.
Recommendations
I wanted more mischief and a little less scandalous, but it’s still a well-written romance. A Knave By Any Other Name is four stars. I’m really loving these Women Who Dare.
