When Katie meets a horned alien on a dangerous planet, fate ignites—and Maladek’s marks appear. Now he’ll risk everything to rescue his destined mate.

Bonus story for the Clecanian Series! Chronologically, Releasing Maladek takes place shortly after Using Fejo.
Overview
Katie was abducted from Earth 10 years ago. Luckily, she was rescued soon after. Unable to return to Earth, she has spent this time as a royal attendant. Now she’s hiding on a slave planet trying to figure out how to save her companions. In her efforts, she comes across a giant alien with horns who whisks her away.
Maladek sacrifices his freedom to let Fejo and his crew get away. Now, as he sits in his cell, he smells her. From the scent alone, his marks appear. How will he save his mate and get them off this planet?
Positives
This is a great novella. Everything we love about the Clecanian Series in a quick read: we got hints of who Maladek could be in Using Fejo. When he recognizes his mate, his transformation is complete.
Their romance is so sweet! They are ideally suited for each other.
Negatives
There isn’t anything negative for me. I can’t even find anything that someone would be opposed to, as long as you love alien romances.
Recommendations
Five stars for Releasing Maladek. It could be read as a stand-alone, but to see his whole character arc, I suggest reading Using Fejo first.
Narration Notes
There’s one thing Stephen Dexter can’t do: sing. There’s a point where the character is supposed to sing her line, but it isn’t narrated any differently. It’s one line, and in six books, that’s my first “complaint”. I just thought it was funny.
