When Vanessa weds a dashing alien pirate to fuel her secret mission home, love hijacks the plan—and Fejo isn’t about to let her slip away without a fight.

In this fifth book of the Clecanian series, we finally get Fejo’s, the sexy alien pirates’, story. We also get to find out exactly why Vanessa is so determined to get back to Earth.

Overview

Vanessa has to get back to her sister by any means necessary. That means, turns out to be marrying the sexy pirate. Phase 1 complete, she gets on the ship. The next step is to get to a port and pay a captain to take her to a forbidden Class IV planet. All the while keeping this secret from her new husband.

Unfortunately, Fejo discovers her scheme. He is heartbroken that yet another person is just using him. Will he help her get back to her family or keep her bound to him?

Positives

Lately, it’s been the males keeping secrets, but this time it’s the human. It’s difficult for me to get through the first part of the book because my heart breaks for Fejo. But once the secrets are revealed, it becomes my favorite story of the series.

Both Fejo and Vanessa’s characters are well developed. The moments each reaches their character arcs are very satisfying. I think that because they reach this point before any intimacy, it makes it sweeter.

Negatives

Like I said, I have difficulty with the first part, but it’s a positive. The author makes you fall in love with Fejo pretty quickly, so it isn’t easy to read(or listen) about him being manipulated.

Recommendations

It’s five stars for me. I love the character development, and there are so many tender moments. We also get to see a bunch of new types of aliens!

Narration Notes

I’ve said it four times already, Stephen Dexter does a great job narrating.
