She was exiled. He was crowned. Now, love and loyalty collide in a war that could shatter empires—or finally bring peace.
The Endless War is the fourth book in the Bridge Kingdom series. It is the resolution of Keris’s and Zarrah’s relationship, so you really need to read The Inadequate Heir at the very least, preferably the entire series.
Overview
Zarrah has been sent to Devil’s Island as punishment for her “treason”. She needs to survive on this island of criminals long enough to find a way off. She needs to get off this island to save her people from her aunt’s thirst for war, even if it means teaming up with the rebellion and overthrowing the Empress.
Keris finds himself king at the cusp of war. There are traitors around every corner, and he has to try to stay one step ahead of all of them. He is torn between wanting to help his war-weary people and rescuing the woman he loves.

Positives
The Endless War delivers the world-building and strong character development I love and expect from the Bridge Kingdom series. Even listening to it a second time, I still found myself wondering how everything would work out. For a bit there, I thought I had made up the ending in my head, but the author knows how to give a HEA.
I would like to note Danielle L. Jensen’s ability to describe a scene so you feel like you’re there. There is a point she’s telling a somewhat grotesque scene, I had to put my food away because I was so queasy. That doesn’t happen very often in a book for me.
Negatives
I really can’t find anything I didn’t like about it. I noticed no errors, and all the events/decisions are in line with the character traits.
Recommendations
I have to give it five stars. It’s so well executed and intriguing. This is the reason why so many of us call the series a hidden gem.
Narration Notes
Summer Morton and Michael Pauley continue their narration of Zarrah and Keris, doing a great job bringing the story to life.
