Falling For My Alpha by Jasmine Fox

Melody, a werewolf who grew up in the human world, hopes to finally fit in at her new college. But she’s labeled the daughter of a murderer, and her fated…

She was his fated mate—and his greatest regret. Five years later, she’s missing, and the truth is about to rewrite everything they thought they knew.

Falling For My Alpha is the fourth book in the Fated Bond series. These books aren’t interconnected, so that they can be read as stand-alone.

Overview

Melody has never fit in. She’s grown up as a werewolf in a human world. She transfers to a new college midterms, where she hopes to finally fit in. After all, a good portion of the student body is also wolves. Unfortunately, now she’s labeled the daughter of a murderer. Supposedly, her father killed the future alpha’s parents, the same fated alpha that is her fated mate, Tyler. After a night under the influence of their hormones and a painful morning after rejection, she vows never to return.

It’s been five years since Tyler saw Melody. But while teaching the young wolves in school, one in particular seems oddly familiar to him. When the guardians of the boy arrive, he sees they are Melody’s best friends from school. The pieces fall together. But where is Melody?

Apparently, she’s been missing for two years!

Positives

Melody’s character was believable. Even with her science talent, having a child alone that young may prevent you from furthering your education. She sacrifices everything for her baby boy.

There is good worldbuilding and character development. Jasmine Fox does a great job getting us to feel the characters’ pain and regrets.

Negatives

The dual narrative is very uneven; the first 40% is only Melody, the next 20% is Tyler, and the remainder is more equal. I understand what the author was trying to do, but it affected the flow for me.

I feel there wasn’t enough groveling. Especially after Melody felt rejected for a second time. I don’t buy that it was for her own good. It’s a cop out.

Recommendations

Rating: 2 out of 5.

Adding the editing errors and Falling For My Alpha only gets two stars. Although it didn’t quite feel like a chore to read, there are just so many areas where it could have been better.
