She’s half-blind with a chaotic service dog. He’s a grumpy healer with scars and secrets. Together, they find love where neither expected to belong.

Love at First Roar is the fourth book in the Grayslake: More Than Mated series.

Overview

Kira has finally escaped her abusive werewolf father and brother. Kira is a weremole, so she’s half blind. She keeps her independence by counting steps and maintaining items in particular locations. Furniture moved just an inch can lead to serious injury for her. She decides to introduce herself to her neighbors, one of whom is the grumpy clan healer Isaac.

Isaac is tired of the stares and whispers. He’ll never find a mate who can look at him with anything other than pity here. So he plans to leave, until the cute weremole and her disaster of a service dog come crashing into his life. Can he convince her to let him help her? Can he let her get past his defenses?

Positives

Kira and Isaac are perfect for each other. She is the sunshine to his grumpiness, and he is the strength to her fear.

I love that Ebeneezer “Ebe” Sniffle Blossom plays such a significant role – he’s a whole character himself. He reminds me of Fraya, especially when I was trying to train her as a service animal.

Negatives

I’m a little annoyed that one past male leads, Ty, Van, and Keen, are all idiots again. But luckily, their father learned his lesson and whipped them back into shape. But I think this was all intentional. Sometimes, we have to experience heartbreak in various ways before we learn our lesson.

Recommendations

Rating: 5 out of 5.

This is my favorite of the whole series! Love at First Roar is the biggest reason I keep returning to this series. It’s an easy five stars for me. All the books in the Grayslake: More than Mated series are better when read in order as a series. There are numerous references to events that have previously occurred.

Narration Notes

Kendall Taylor narrates the series. Her voice adds a cozy feel to the series.
