Rejected by the Alpha Heir by Flora R. Leigh

Rejected by the Alpha Heir, the second book in the Fated Bond Series, tells the compelling story of Yelena and Austin. After he rejects her as his mate, Yelena leaves,…

He cast her aside. She came back stronger—with secrets, scars, and a daughter he never knew existed. Fate isn’t done with them yet.

Rejected by the Alpha Heir is the second book of the Fated Bond Series. Each book is a stand-alone.

Overview

Yelena was so happy when she was told Austin was her fated mate. They’d been best friends for years, but since they were told of their mating, Austin has despised her presence. He avoids her like the plague. When he sees another man with her, he loses it and gets drunk. After Yelena returns home, they end up sharing the night. It all blows up in the morning when she overhears him telling them that he doesn’t want her for a mate.

She grants his wish and leaves. Five years and a little girl later, she returns for a funeral. Austin can’t believe his eyes. He’s missed her every day. Yelena does her best to keep her daughter secret, but the Moon Goddess has a different plan. There are dark forces at work.

Positives

Yelena starts as a complete pushover. She is kind to a fault. But she develops through the story and becomes a strong Mama bear. After she left the pack, she got a nursing degree (while pregnant) and made a name for herself.

The story is memorable – it’s a pretty emotional rejection, and Austin does pine for her for years. So it makes a good rejected mates story.

Negatives

Yelena’s personality at the beginning is so annoying, but we all need a catalyst to make us stick up for ourselves. So I’ll let this one pass.

Recommendations

The emotion is there; I feel the writing could have been stronger. I give Rejected by the Alpha Heir four stars.
