As Violet fights to understand her magic and her place in a town brimming with secrets, one truth simmers beneath the surface: connection isn’t always physical, and healing rarely follows a straight line.

Overview
Drew has done it again! Yet another unique plot for our new couple in book four. Now we follow Violet, a witch, and her shifter mate, Henrick. Growing up, they knew they would be mates, but were separated when disaster struck. Fifteen years later, they find each other again and get a second chance. Unfortunately, after a spell going haywire, Violet cannot physically touch (skin to skin) another person. This is magnified for her mate. She needs answers, and she’s going to get them.
Positives
We are finally starting to get a few answers! Violet has fire- figuratively and literally. Meanwhile, Henrik is a solid mass of compassion, a perfect anchor for Violet’s fire. It’s a beautiful relationship that has evolved between them.
Violet does everything she can to find answers for the town and herself. So you have a mystery amongst the romance. It’s so lovely to get some answers finally.
Because Violet can burn Henrik when they touch skin to skin, they are limited to PG-13 and self-gratification. With a bit of creativity, they make it work, for now.
Negatives
I feel like an opportunity was missed regarding Violet’s magic. It is still uncertain how it works. It’s like the author was just winging it. But with how thorough Drew usually is, maybe she has something planned.
Recommendations
Even with a few concepts falling short (witch powers are not defined), it was still an excellent book. I give it four stars. Looking forward to seeing what Garourave has in store next. You know it’s a HEA, yet…
Drew manages to make you doubt it.
Status Update
Book 5 still isn’t out -it’s supposed to be the last book in the series. Checking out the author’s social media, she appears to be taking a break due to the current crisis. I hope she doesn’t stay away too long. Books can bring us an escape from the chaos of our reality.
The series is currently available for free with a Kindle Unlimited membership.
