“How many times do I need to say I’m sorry?”
“How about once!”

Now we get to Salt Mountain. This is tied for my favorite in this series with The Tyrant Alpha’s Rejected Mate. Once again, it meets all my rejected mate’s needs.
✔Imperfect, but strong female lead.
✔A painful rejection.
✔There’s a lot of groveling when the male realizes his mistake.
Overview
Flora isn’t lean like the other shifters, and her pack doesn’t let her forget it. She lives for the moments when Alec nods his head and they sneak off into the woods. She knows she should feel used, but she can’t bring herself to do so. After Alec rejects Flora in front of the pack, she decides she doesn’t need this crappy pack.
Positives
Cate C. Wells does a great job revealing the insecurities that we plus-sized gals experience regularly. There were many times I completely related to Flora. Alec’s growth is a bonus. Much like Killian, he not only learns his lessons but also applies them to future discussions, choices, and situations.
Negatives
Cate C. Wells just jumps into the relationship. This is usually fine, but it left me wondering: How did they ever get together in the first place? Did he just one day make eye contact with her, give her a nod, and then they met up? It doesn’t matter in the end, I am just really curious.
Recommendations
I love Flora; she has such a big heart, considering she has received so little. Her inner turmoil and self-hatred make her so real. While Alec does start off as “not nice”, he learns so much from Flora and improves himself. This is a 5-star. All of the books in this series can be read as stand-alone.
Audiobook Notes
Narrators Faith Clark and Christopher Rourke are ideally suited for Flora and Alec.
