Red Fury is the eighth book in The Dragon Tributes series. Each book follows a different couple, but the story continues, so you need to read them in order.

Romance Snapshot

Overview

Shadow knows how vital her undercover mission is. They suspect they have a traitor, but don’t know who, why, or how. This mission is a risk to her safety, but it’s a price she is willing to pay for her people.

Fury immediately identifies Shadow as another spy. Even though they are on different sides, he convinces her to work together to find the truth. They have to navigate dangerous people and suspicious meetings. Can these star-crossed lovers find a way to make it work without betraying their people?

Positive

I feel like we may finally be moving along with the dragons. We are getting more insight into the political structure of the Dragon Tributes world.  I hope it’s here to stay.

Red Fury is jam-packed with action, making it very fast-paced. There are hidden identities, more than just our two spies, deceit, secrets, hidden agendas, and allies in unexpected places.

Negative

All the action takes away from the romance. The chemistry between Shadow and Fury suffers because there isn’t enough buildup for them. It’s still steamy, but the emotional intimacy takes a hit.

While I did love how protective Fury is, it took away the strength Shadow showed in previous books. She’s the leader of the Dragon Tributes school; she has command and respect over so many fighters, but in her book, she is almost the damsel in distress.

Recomendation

I give Red Fury three stars. It all felt like a mess to me, almost to the point of two stars; there were some redeemable bits. Burning in Fire just came out, so I hope it’s better.
