Brimstone is scheduled to be released on November 18, 2025. It is the second book in the Fae and Alchemy series. Quicksilver was released last year and was an immediate hit. Readers love Saeris and Kingfisher’s enemies-to-lovers romance with their bantering and steamy moments. We are left with an uncertain future, but we have found family.

This post contains spoiler alerts for Quicksilver!

Book Breakdown

Saeris is saved from her execution by a fae named Kingfisher. Kingfisher learns she’s an alchemist, so he strikes a deal for her services. In return for creating relics, he’d get her brother. This turns out to be a case of mistaken identity, but she’s already agreed and sets about trying to figure out how to make these relics. Meanwhile, Kingfisher’s grumbliness begins to soften toward her as she joins him on the war front.  While rescuing his sister, who would later become Kingfisher himself, it is discovered that the King of the fae and vampires and the Queen of humans are actually siblings and in cahoots. The resulting battle is too much for Saeris ‘ human body. The only way to live and reclaim her fate is to become half fae and half vampire.

Where We Left Off…

In the climax, it’s revealed that Malcolm, Belikon, and Madra are siblings. Over a century ago, Kingfisher was forced to make a deal with them: if a coin landed a certain way, Malcolm would call off his undead army, and Kingfisher would let the city fall. But the coin never landed—Malcolm snatched it midair and hid it, trapping Kingfisher in a maze for 110 years. He finally escapes when Saeris activates the quicksilver ponds.

The coin still needs to be found. To distract Malcolm, Carrion provokes him into biting—revealing Carrion is secretly fae, and his blood is toxic to Malcolm. As Malcolm begins to die, Saeris finds the coin, but he strikes her down in a final attack. She tricks him one last time before he dies.

Wounded and fading, Saeris accepts a life-saving bite from Taladius, Malcolm’s second-in-command. Kingfisher opens a portal to his home before her transformation begins. Once there, Saeris is summoned by the quicksilver and teleported to Zareth, the God of Chaos. He confesses to altering fate—making her human instead of fae—to prevent her bond with Kingfisher, which would trigger the end of the realms.

Zareth offers a solution: if Saeris lets him cut her from the tapestry of the universe, the gods will no longer interfere. To do so, he must transform her into something entirely new—half vampire, half fae.

The final scene shows Saeris, Kingfisher, and their allies as a found family. Though Belikon and Madra remain threats, they’ll face them together. Saeris still hopes to rescue her brother Hayden and father figure Elroy from the human realm.
